Common Questions

  • What skill level players do you coach?

My experience is coaching youth players (aged 11 to 18) in professional elite environments or players with ambition to reach elite status. I also coach players at college/university U-21 level, who are looking to advance their careers or break into a professional environment.

  • Are you able to help my child during off-seasons and during season or is one better than the other?

Off-season and during-season. You can improve your game in both. During the season, there is opportunity to improve the skills and tactics that are associated with the position your are playing in for your team, with a specific focus on decision-making, awareness, deception, positioning and movement. Whereas in the off-season, technique work an fitness training can lead to big gains in technical and physical performance.

  • My child struggles to translate practice to improved gameplay. Can you help them with improving actual in-game play?

Yes, there are a number of tools available that can be used by your child to improve their in-game play, which range from tactical tips (e.g. how you create space, and how you can make your positioning and movement more effective) and psychological strategies which enhance confidence and concentration so that your child can perform to their maximum. By uploading game footage, and making use of the coaching calls to share your experiences and challenges, I will be able to assess the key areas you need to focus on to raise your in-game play to a new level.

  • My child wants to get recruited to play in college, can you help them with this?

100%. Soccer, or football as we call it in the UK, is a great sport purely because there are ALWAYS areas that you can develop, meaning that there is always room for improvement. So, if your child wants to play in college, I can work with him/her to assess and identify the key areas he/she should focus on developing, whether it is technical, tactical, physical or psychological, to turn the dream of college soccer into a reality.

  • Will working with you conflict with my child's teams coach?

No, not at all. A team coach is focused on the team development and performance. When working with you at an individual level, we try and understand what the team coach needs from your game, so that we can analyse and identify the key areas of skill development that should be prioritised to raise your game and performance with your team environments.

  • My child is trying to make the team, can you help them ahead of tryouts?

Yes, most definitely. We would firstly establish the nature of the tryouts and what the team coaches are looking for from their new recruits. Once we have clarity on this, I can analyse your performances to identify key areas of development that you your child should prioritise on improving, whilst giving them psychological tools to help them perform and shine come tryouts.
